Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she earned a BA in Theater Education from the University of Puerto Rico. Karim have taken classes in Brazil, Ecuador and Peru with prestigious groups like Theater of the Oppressed, with Augusto Boal, Malayerba and Yuyachkani. On 2011 moved to NYC in search to explore and learned more about the theatrical scene in the US. Started her graduate studies on 2014, in Design and Technical Production in Brooklyn College, to expand and perfect her knowledge and skills in Costume Design.
Karim's first love and main focus is Costume Design, but enjoys working and collaborating in multiple areas of technical theater. She likes to consider herself as an Interdisciplinary Theater Artist. Recently expanded as a Lighting Designer in the world premier of Radium Now by Kate Benson and Speech and Debate by Stephen Karam at The New Workshop Theater in Brooklyn, NY.
Additional theatrical credits include, Producer: Entre Quien, Cual y Sea (LATEA Theater, NY), Assistant Director/Stage Manager: Ojo Fabulas Cautivas (Teatro Julia de Burgos, PR) among others. Karim is part of the Latino Theater company LATEA and works as a Production Assistant, Operation Specialist and Designer. Currently, she is working towards her MFA in Design and Technical Production at Brooklyn College.
